Getting your Guard Card is just the first step. Now it’s time to get hired. Here’s how to move with confidence and land your first paid post.
You don’t need years of experience — just the right focus.
Include:
Your active Guard Card license number and expiration date
Any completed training (CPR, baton, de-escalation, etc.)
A short “Professional Summary” focused on reliability, alertness, and professionalism
Availability (employers love flexible guards)
Don’t blast out random applications — target the right jobs.
Look for:
“No experience required” or “willing to train” listings
Apartment complexes, retail centers, parking garages
Local security companies (check Yelp or Google Maps for leads)
Tip: Always follow up 2–3 days after applying. Even a short call or email makes you stand out.
When you get the call or walk into an office, stay professional and brief.
Practice saying:
“Hi, my name is [Your Name]. I’m a new guard with an active license and I'm available to start immediately. I’m responsible, punctual, and looking for steady work. I’d love a chance to prove myself.”
First impressions matter. Even if you’re just picking up an application…
Wear:
Clean polo or button-up
Dark jeans or slacks
Closed-toe black shoes or boots
Keep a log of:

It shows you’re serious — and it helps when you follow up.
Your first job might not be glamorous — but every post is experience. Show up, stay alert, and build a rep for being reliable. Promotions come to guards who prove they can be trusted.
