Most hiring managers aren’t just looking for a guard — they want a reliable, alert, and professional person who shows up ready to protect people and property.
Top traits employers value:
Dependability (on time, every time)
Clean, neat appearance
Clear communication skills
Calm under pressure
Basic understanding of security protocols
1. “What would you do if someone tries to enter the property without permission?”
Tip: Show calm decision-making and use of protocols.
Answer: “I would remain calm, verify their credentials, and if unauthorized, firmly but respectfully ask them to leave. If they refuse, I’d follow escalation procedures and notify my supervisor or law enforcement.”
2. “Have you ever dealt with a difficult person on the job?”
Tip: Highlight de-escalation.
Answer: “Yes — I focused on listening, staying calm, and defusing tension before it became a bigger issue. I also documented the incident for my report.”
3. “Why do you want to work in security?”
Tip: Keep it mission-focused.
Answer: “I take pride in protecting people and creating a safer environment. I’m dependable, observant, and ready to grow in the field.”
